یہ باتیں سن کر ابا جان چپ ہو گئے۔ سوچا کہ کیا کہوں کیا نہ کہوں۔ بچے دور دراز کے ملکوں کو چلے گئے اور اپنے اپنے کاموں میں مشغول ہو گئے۔ کبھی کبھی خط  آتے اور ان کی خیریت کا پتہ چلتا ہے۔ یہ زندگی بھی کیا ہے؟ بچوں کی دیکھ بھال کرو اور آخر میں اکیلے رہ جاؤ ۔ ہم نے بہت دلجوئی کی مگر ابا جان کی اداسی بڑھتی گئی۔

Roman Urdu: Ye batain sun kar abba jan chup ho gay. Socha ke kya kahu kya na kahu. Bachay dur daraz ke mulkun ko chalay gay aur apne apne kamu me mashghool ho gay. Kabhi kabhi khat ate aur un ki kheriyat ka pata chalta hai. Ye zindagi bhi kya hai? Bachu ki dekh bhal karo aur akhir me akele reh jao. Hum ne bohat diljoyi ki magar abba jan ki udasi bharti gayi.

English: Upon hearing this, Father became silent. He thought about what to say and what not to say. The children are in distant countries and busy with their work. Sometimes their letters come telling of their well-being. What is this life? Look after your children and remain alone in the end. We tried to console Father but his sadness only grew.
